Melisa Myers is a production designer known for creating incredibly layered, authentic environments for Film, Television and Commercials. Her work draws from a interdisciplinary background spanning film, visual art and architecture. Her instruction began at Art Institute with a degree in Interior Design. Later she continued her education specializing in design & construction. She attended Woodbury University in California where she graduated with a BFA in Interior Architecture. Prior to graduation she was offered an internship with Walt Disney Imagineering, where she thrived in this unique studio culture. She developed a strong sense of team collaboration, concept development and model building; something that she still carries with her today.
Her practice is rooted in research-driven collection, development + world building. Combining narrative sensitivity with a verité understanding of materiality and the relationship to architecture and assemblage. Influenced by contemporary art, performance, + design history. She utilizes production design as a storytelling tool—one that shapes character, mood, and emotional rhythm through space.
She works closely with directors and cinematographers to create environments that feel veritable, tactile, and inherent. Moving fluidly between mediums and scales, Melisa’s work reflects an ongoing interest in the relationship between emotional, physical, and cinematic language. Melisa has been fortunate to work with wonderfully unusual people on a variety of independent films in addition to various high profile commercial campaigns. Her childlike curiosity and sense of discovery is ongoing and intact. She continues to develop and expand her skills as both an artist and designer.
